Easy Candy Cane Vase

Easy Candy Cane Vase
Hi everyone! Linda here from Hello I Live Here showing you how to make an easy candy cane vase to showcase the beautiful flower of your choice for your Christmas table.
I went past my favorite thrift store and purchased a couple tall glasses. I used tall water glasses because I wanted enough room left at the bottom so I could place twine around and around. While I was out, I stopped by Target for a couple large boxes of Candy Canes, not the small ones, but I am sure they could be used 😉 I also picked up a couple tree ornaments, a small spool of twine and some red and silver ribbon to show case on the glass from Joann’s.
I also stopped at my favorite florist Richter’s in Ballwin, Mo. As you can see they have beautiful roses. If you live in the area, make sure you stop by and visit Richter’s, they have a wonderful Christmas section, and a display case that dates all the way back to the 1904 St Louis World’s Fair. (A lovely handmade piece that Bob Vila who showed you our Rustic Christmas wreath, would love!)
Here’s how Hello I Live Here made the easy candy cane vase.
First, I washed the glass making sure there was no oil or left over hand prints. After drying, I got to work by hot gluing large candy canes to the outside of the glass until the circle was finished.
Next, I wrapped the bottom of my glass with burlap twin. I went round and round until I felt it was enough, so you can use your best judgment until you get the look you want.
Then, I added the Red and silver ribbon by hot gluing around the center, and made a bow. I wanted to carry the burlap twin up, so I added it around the center of the ribbon.
Finally, I added my roses and greenery. I used real flowers, so I made sure to add water to the cup in the center.
To finish the piece, I added small red old fashioned boots, and a lovely metallic Christmas tree, all which were hot glued.
That’s our lovely center piece for you today. I hope you enjoy whipping up this pretty center piece. This little vase also makes a wonderful gift idea if you have been invited to a dinner party. Thanks for stopping by! See you all tomorrow with our next Christmas craft idea.
